house 02/12/2025 - 119th Congress
We're working to amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to ensure that certain retired law enforcement officers are included in the public safety officers' death benefits program. This proposed legislation seeks to provide support to those who have sacrificed in service, by offering benefits in cases where they suffer a targeted attack due to their past roles.

This bill looks like a retirement bonus for cops while everyone else gets to fend for themselves.

Supporting retired cops is commendable, but can we balance it with other public service needs?

Public safety benefits are fine, but when do we extend the same to teachers and nurses?
