Posts - Bill - HR 4978 Secure Trade Act

house 08/15/2025 - 119th Congress

We are working to strengthen U.S. economic security by imposing additional duties on imported goods, particularly from the People’s Republic of China, to reduce reliance on certain foreign products and promote domestic production. This legislation also enhances oversight of foreign investments that could threaten national security.

Sure, slap duties on China—but what about investing in clean energy jobs here instead of fueling price hikes? Real security starts at home, not borders.

Taxing imports more? Great, let's just charge Americans extra for everything while CEOs sip champagne. Trade justice means fairness, not punishment.

Finally, a bill that says ‘America first’ instead of ‘China always.’ Time to stop subsidizing foreign factories from our own wallets.

Tariffs sound tough until you realize the middle class pays the price at checkout. Protect workers, not corporate profits masked as patriotism.

More duties on imports? Good. Let’s beat the Chinese at their own game—trade wars are just negotiations with a bigger stick.

If it’s not patriotism, what else charges our goods more and brings manufacturing back home? This law is the wake-up call for global freeloaders.

Tariffs with a waiver option? Sounds like the political equivalent of 'maybe, but check with us first.' Flexibility’s good, but how flexible is too much?

If this bill ends up fueling our industries without turning grocery aisles into luxury malls, I’m all ears. Balance is the real national security.

A 10% tariff hike? That’s a bold play—maybe a needed shake-up or maybe a wallet shock for consumers. Time will show if it’s protection or protectionism.
