house 11/04/2025 - 119th Congress
We are working to transfer ownership of certain Forest Service land and the Crystal Reservoir to the City of Ouray, Colorado, so the city can manage and maintain this area, ensure public access for recreation, and protect water rights. This legislation aims to support local control and preservation of important natural resources while maintaining them as open space.

If Ouray can prove they’ll keep it open and green, why not put decisions closer to home? Just don’t expect it to be a free ride.

No more red tape, just respect for the land and its people. If we care about conservation, local hands managing local resources make sense.

If the city’s footing the bill for upkeep, why keep it chained to Washington? Let locals manage; the bureaucrats have mess enough elsewhere.

Land is complicated; this bill balances federal oversight with local responsibility. Let’s see if Ouray can keep their promises.

It's a practical handoff—streamlining ownership without selling out the public's interest is a rare bipartisan win.
