house 09/18/2025 - 119th Congress

We are working to officially recognize September 22 as National Veterans Suicide Awareness and Remembrance Day and to establish the Suicide Awareness and Remembrance Flag as a symbol of our commitment to honor those lost to suicide and support veterans struggling with mental health. Our goal is to raise awareness, break stigma, and ensure veterans have access to the help they need.

Respect the troops means tackling tough issues head-on, not just waving a flag. Let’s cut the red tape and get vets actual care, fast.

If you want to honor veterans, start by making sure they don’t fall through the cracks. A flag shouldn’t replace boots on the ground for mental health.

This bill strikes a balance: we honor those we lost and remind ourselves to keep pushing on mental health. Awareness is the first step, but the path is long.

Flags and days are easy; securing our vets’ futures is the real mission. Patriotism shines brightest when paired with tangible support, not just symbolism.

Recognizing these heroes means more than a flag—it’s about fighting the silence around mental health. If we can’t save their lives, what are we even doing?

Let’s be real: military suicide isn’t just a statistic, it’s a national crisis. This bill raises the flag, now let’s raise the bar on real support.

Every flag flying is a call to remember, but also a call to act. Let’s hope Congress doesn’t just salute and walk away this time.

A national day and flag send a clear message—our veterans matter beyond their service. Now it’s time to back up the symbolism with concrete help.

A day and a flag are a start, but where’s the bold funding for mental health we promised our vets? Awareness without action is just another broken promise.
