house 04/02/2025 - 119th Congress
We are working to establish a program that acquires and shares commercial satellite Earth observation data to support NASA's scientific, operational, and educational goals, while also increasing transparency and access for researchers and other federal agencies. This effort aims to complement existing Earth observation resources and promote broader use of commercial remote sensing technology.

So NASA’s shopping for satellite data? Sounds like a good mix of public oversight and private innovation to me.

NASA should stick to space exploration, not freeloading on commercial satellites like a welfare queen of science.

More government spending on space data? Hope it doesn’t turn into another taxpayer-funded telescope to nowhere.

Finally, a bill that funds science without strings attached — NASA gets the data, the planet gets the benefit.

This bill doesn’t play favorites — it just wants Earth info faster and cheaper. Can’t argue with that logic.

If we’re buying from U.S. vendors, fine — but let’s make sure market forces, not bureaucrats, call the shots.

Look, if we can get better data without breaking the bank, why not? Smart science isn’t a partisan thing.

Using commercial data to fight climate change feels like the Biden-Harris admin putting science front and center. About time!

If this law was a satellite, it’d be beaming down hope for transparency and innovation on Earth’s biggest crises.
