Posts - Bill - HRES 490 Expressing support for the designation of the second Saturday in June as "Veterans Get Outside Day".

house 06/09/2025 - 119th Congress

We are working to establish the second Saturday in June as “Veterans Get Outside Day” to encourage veterans to connect with nature, which can help improve mental health and reduce feelings of isolation. Our goal is to support veterans coping with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and depression by promoting outdoor activities as a complementary form of healing.

A great idea—get vets off the couch and into the great outdoors. Real freedom is fresh air, not government programs.

Finally, a bill that treats our heroes like humans, not just war machines. Fresh air is medicine too.

Leave it to Congress to make a day of fresh air official—hope they don’t charge admission. Supporting vets means respecting their choice, not just sticker days.

Mental health care needs more mountains, less red tape. This day is a breath of fresh hope.

I’m all for vets getting outside, but let’s not forget action over ceremonies. Real support is boots on the ground, not just hashtags.

Getting vets outside isn’t just nice—it’s vital healing. Nature therapy beats endless bureaucracy any day.

A day outside might not fix everything, but it’s a great start for our veterans’ wellbeing. Sometimes simple solutions work best.
