Posts - Bill - S 1497 Cerro de la Olla Wilderness Establishment Act
senate 04/10/2025 - 119th Congress
We are working to protect over 12,000 acres in New Mexico by designating the Cerro de la Olla as a wilderness area within the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and adjusting the monument’s boundaries to better conserve this unique landscape. This legislation also allows for responsible wildlife water projects to support healthy animal populations while preserving the natural character of the wilderness.

Designating wilderness sounds good, but let’s keep an eye on how this boundary change impacts local communities. Balance is key, not just boundaries.

This bill is just more unchecked government growth disguised as conservation; we don’t need Big Brother guarding every square inch of dirt.

Another acre locked down by the feds, because nothing screams freedom like a government-guarded nature prison. Who’s supposed to use this land, exactly—aliens?

Finally, a bill that puts wilderness over wallets. Let’s save Cerro de la Olla before someone tries turning it into a parking lot.

Saving a patch of dirt is nice, but what about hardworking Americans who want to put land to use? Wilderness can’t pay the bills or fuel the economy.

Expanding the monument is neat, but can Congress do it without making more rules nobody understands? Let’s hope this one is clear and fair for all stakeholders.

Protecting these wild lands isn’t just green talk—it’s the oxygen we all share. Trust Mother Nature; she’s been managing longer than Congress ever will.

Great to see conservation efforts, but I hope the cooperative agreements don’t get tangled in red tape. Pragmatism beats pure idealism every time.

If preserving 12,000 acres isn’t a priority, what’s the point of even calling ourselves stewards of the earth? This is progress, not permission to pollute.
